Technical Training courses

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a methodology that encompasses all the activities and processes needed between customer concept and product launch. The business areas affected are technical sales, product engineering, reliability engineering, process engineering, and manufacturing operations. The purpose of APQP methods is to enable companies to reduce concept-to-customer time when creating new products and maintaining a high quality level with minimal launch difficulties.

Total Hours: 16

Control Plans

This workshop presents the basic concepts related to process variation, process control, the role of control plans in the product development process and relationship of APQP documents.

Total Hours: 8

Statistical Process Controls (SPC)

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is widely used in manufacturing to control and ensure quality products. Statistical methods are reviewed and concepts of probability and variation are introduced. Attribute and variables control charts are constructed and then interpreted for in-control and out-of-control conditions. Once processes are “in control”, process capability studies can be conducted to determine the probability of the process producing defective product. Process capability is introduced.

Total Hours: 14

Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)

Reducing product development time and providing defect free product is a vital competitive strategy. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a planning tool that is applied to the design of a product or process. FMEA enables a cross-functional team to identify and prevent problems from occurring.

Total Hours: 8

Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

PFMEA is an interactive course that addresses how failures occur; the effect, causes and severity of the failure; the likelihood that the cause will result in the failure; mechanisms to detect failure; reliability of the detection mechanisms and the risk associated with the failure. Some classroom activities include process mapping, process analysis and creating a PFMEA.

Total Hours: 16

Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

This workshop presents the basic concepts related to reducing measurement variability. During the workshop participants will perform analytical work to evaluate the effectiveness of gages brought to the workshop. Forms for performing gage R&R studies and sample parts will be supplied as part of the course.

Total Hours: 16

Design of Experiments (DOE) – Classical

Experiments are used in manufacturing to design robust products and processes. Designed experiments rely heavily on statistical methods to determine variation within trails and between trials. Variation is the key to determining if two or more trials show significantly different results. This course includes a basic review of statistics and then covers the more common experiment designs. In the manufacturing environment, proficiency at Design of Experiments allows optimal settings of process parameters.

Total Hours: 24

Design of Experiments (DOE) – Taguchi

Experiments are used in manufacturing to design robust products and processes. Designed experiments rely heavily on statistical methods to determine variation within trails and between trials. Variation is the key to determining if two or more trials show significantly.

Total Hours: 24

Team Problem Solving – 8D

In today’s complex business environment, finding the root cause of a problem is often a very difficult task. While a single individual might sometimes be able to solve certain problems, the more complex problems in business are better addressed by a multi-disciplinary team. This workshop focuses on a structured eight-step methodology used to find root cause, determine how to permanently solve a problem and prevent its recurrence.

Total Hours: 16

Process Management

Process management is an effective concept to ensure process improvement. The process map is a critical component of process management and is used to analyze the flow of events through the process and to identify where improvements can be made. Frequently, a process map is used in a Team Problem Solving setting to assist in analyzing a process and determining where error or defects may occur. Process map symbols also identify the types of activities and events that are a part of the process. This course includes a section on how to use a process map to analyze and improve processes.

Total Hours: 7

Management Overview of Lean Six Sigma

Management Overview of Lean Six Sigma is designed to present to managers, directors, and professionals an understanding of the concepts of Six Sigma and what it can achieve. During the session, participants will be exposed to the tools used in various phases of Six Sigma and the companies that achieved significant bottom-line results from the process.

Total Hours: 9

Technical Training: Quality Management System

Process Audit

This is an interactive course that involves hands-on:

  1. Key process selection
  2. Metrics identification
  3. Process auditing

This program includes process auditing classroom training and insights, wrap up and reporting. The training portion of this program is outlined as noted in the “Training Course Content.”

This program is customized to meet your needs and can accommodate groups of 15 internal auditors.

Total Hours: 8

Layered Process Audit

The purpose of this course is to provide a structure for manufacturing and service providers to control processes, reduce mistakes, improve work and quality, reduce cost and improve the bottom -line

Layered Process Audits are designed for manufacturing companies and are aimed at creating an environment that helps to create a quality culture.

Total Hours: 8

ISO 9001

This course provides participants with a high-level understanding and appreciation of the ISO/TS 16949 standard. The intent of the course is to provide participants with enough background and understanding of their role in supporting the company’s certification to the standard.

Total Hours: 9

IATF 16949

IATF specifies the quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation, and servicing of automotive-related products. This course provides a one-day overview of the quality management system designed for suppliers in the automotive industry.

Total Hours: 8

QMS full implementation

The Quality Management System Implementation will cover both ISO 9001 or IATF standards depending on the needs of the organization. It is estimated that this will involve working with a team two days per week for an estimated time of six months.
