HFC offers an Associates of Applied Science degree along with getting you ready for a new career taking care of eyes! We have the latest technology in our fully equipped labs to teach you all the testing techniques. We will mentor, teach and support you through your two year journey. This is a very rewarding career.

As a student in the HFC Ophthalmic Technician program, you can pursue an associate degree in Applied Science and be ready to take the International Certified Ophthalmic Technician exam right after graduation. The program offers a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to succeed as an ophthalmic technician.

The International Certified Ophthalmic Technician program is the only Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)-accredited Ophthalmic Technician program in the state of Michigan.

    HFC's Ophthalmic Technician Program prepares the you to take the International Certified Technician Examination administered by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).

  • Volunteer Opportunities

    The Ophthalmic Technician Program participates with local Ophthalmologists to perform free eye examinations for the indigent. You'll gain valuable experience by assisting with vision testing at the sites.

  • Hands-on Learning

    The Ophthalmic Technician Program has three patient exam stations set up in the labs for students to gain hands-on experience.
