If you are interested in health and fitness, then the Fitness Leadership program at HFC is for you. Our program is designed to provide you with an excellent foundation in the theory and practice of exercise science.

Why should I choose this program?
After completing our program, you will be knowledgeable about the human body's systems and how they respond to exercise training, confident in your ability to lead group and personal training, and well-prepared for industry certification exams, including the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) exams.
Our program will provide you with an exploration of areas relevant to exercise science such as nutrition, exercise physiology, methods for teaching exercise, and equipment purchase and maintenance. We offer classes in nutrition, exercise physiology, and health and wellness, as well as activity classes in strength and conditioning, yoga, stress management, and volleyball. You will also gain experience using the latest equipment and techniques for measuring maximal oxygen uptake, lactate threshold, body composition, strength, and flexibility.

Program features and benefits
State-of-the-art lab experience
You'll use the latest equipment and techniques for measuring maximal oxygen uptake (a measurement of aerobic capacity), lactate threshold (an important point for aerobic training), body composition, strength, and flexibility.

We have partnerships with many universities including Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University.
3+1 transfer program
Take 3 years at HFC and 1 at Eastern Michigan University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science.
