HFC hosts 30th Annual President’s Collage Concert March 5

The HFC Music Department will present the 30th annual President’s Collage Concert on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.
“I’m so proud to present such a diverse concert for our 30th anniversary of this event," said HFC Director of Music Anthony Lai. “We like to give the audience a little bit of everything at this concert, and it will include classical, jazz, funk, musical theatre, film music, and more. Mark your calendars for March 5!”
Collage Concert is a broad showcase of talent and creativity
The President’s Collage Concert is an annual tradition that began in 1996. It was founded by retired HFC music instructor G. Kevin Dewey and the late Rick L. Goward.
The first President’s Collage Concert was held at Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn in 1996. From 1997 to 2001, it was held at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. The concert moved to its current home at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in 2002.
“This event is a broad showcase of talent and creativity at HFC,” said HFC President Russ Kavalhuna. “The musicians and artists put in many hours of work to bring a variety of musical experiences to the audience. I hope the 30th anniversary of the Collage Concert will generate a lot of community support.”
“It is an honor to continue the legacy of the annual President’s Collage Concert”
HFC’s music directors bring together the College’s many choral and instrumental ensembles from its vibrant music program for a varied and exciting performance. More than 150 performers will participate in this year’s show. Lai will conduct the following HFC musical ensembles at this year’s Collage Concert (unless noted otherwise):
- Henry Ford Big Band
- HFC Chorus (directed by Amy Saari)
- Metropolitan Symphony Band
- Studio 110 Jazz Orchestra
- Vanguard Voices (directed by Dewey)
- HFC Blue Fusion Vocal Jazz Ensemble (featuring student directors)
- HFC Department of Theatre (headed by Dr. John-Michael Sefel with music directed by Vanessa El-Zein)
“It is an honor to continue the legacy of the annual President’s Collage Concert,” said Lai.
