2025 LAND Conference’s theme inspired by Robert Frost

The mission of LAND is to develop and promote a network for strengthening liberal arts education across Michigan’s community colleges. LAND sponsors seven student competitions to recognize outstanding student work in the liberal arts:

  • Creative writing
  • Graphic design
  • Student scholars
  • Poster
  • 2-D art
  • 3-D art
  • Photo/new media and short film

The theme for the 40th annual LAND Conference is called “Less Traveled By,” which is inspired by poet Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken.” The conference theme is purposely kept broad to invite a wide range of interpretations across the liberal arts disciplines.

Each year’s theme is selected by looking at what’s occurring in the world around us and our own experience with students as they pursue their dreams against so many odds. Sometimes, those paths take us to places we never imagined as we celebrate those unexpected roads less traveled.
