June is LBGTQ+ Pride Month, which is celebrated annually.

During Campus Pride Month, HFC will host several events.

The Campus Pride events are listed below.


Pride Flag Installation, 4/1

Members of the HFC Sexuality And Gender Acceptance Club (SAGA) and ally volunteers will place 200 rainbow flags around the LED sign in the quad between the Reuther Liberal Arts Building (Building K) and the Health Science Education Center (Building G) on the main campus on Tuesday, April 1, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. You are welcome to join them. The flags will fly proudly throughout April. Sponsored by SAGA.


SAGA Bake Sale, 4/3

Satisfy your sweet tooth by supporting the SAGA Bake Sale on Thursday, April 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the pavilion of the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus). Sponsored by SAGA.


Pins for Pride: Button-Making Activity, 4/8

Embrace your creative side with this fun craft activity. Pins for Pride will be held on Tuesday, April 8, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the lobby of the MacKenize Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus). At this activity, you can design your own pins to show off your pride and support for yourself, your friends, and your family. You can also feel free to take one of our pre-made buttons. Sponsored by SAGA.


HIV/AIDS Testing and Presentation, 4/15

Join us to learn about the history of HIV and various sexual health tips on Tuesday, April 15, on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus) at the following times in the following rooms:

• Noon to 2:00 p.m.: Free confidential testing in the Rosenau Rooms
• 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.: Educational presentation in the Berry Amphitheater

Testing is fast, free, and confidential. The College will not receive any information about your identity. Sponsored by the SAFE@HFC Committee and Corktown Health.


Queer & Connected: Identity, Allyship, and Resistance, 4/16

Join us as psychotherapist Lewis Perdicou speaks about how to understand varying identities and foster inclusivity in your community on Wednesday, April 16, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. The event is free.

“Tongues of Fire” choral concert, 4/24

The HFC Music Department will perform a multi-lingual choral concert called “Tongues of Fire” on Thursday, April 24, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Adray Auditorium (Room F-100) in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus). This concert is a celebration of languages, featuring songs in English, Arabic, Latin, Nyanja (Zambia), and Brazilian Portuguese. Sponsored by the HFC Chorus and the SAFE@HFC Committee.


Rainbow Masquerade, 4/25

Join HFC students for a night of fun on Friday, April 25, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the pavilion of the McDonald Student Center (Building M). Festivities include a crowning for the best-dressed, a free dinner, dancing, a photo booth, and more. The theme is rainbow masquerade, so dress accordingly if you want! Sponsored by SAGA.


Creative Playdate, 4/28

Drop in on the Creative Playdate on Monday, April 28, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Room F-216 on the second floor of the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus). At this open studio activity, you will create art with fellow students. You can create affirmation collages. There will be materials available for other creative ideas to blossom. Sponsored by SAFE@HFC, Fine Arts, and the All Around Arts Association.


SAGA meetings, Tuesdays

SAGA fosters a supportive environment for all students, regardless of your sexual orientation or gender expression. The meetings consist of fun activities, event planning, and more.

SAGA meets every Tuesday in Room M-109 of the McDonald Student Center (Building M). The SAGA meetings for the rest of the Winter 2025 semester are from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, April 8
  • Tuesday, April 15
  • Tuesday, April 22
