Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L on the main campus). This free, public event is in partnership with the Michigan Department of State, ACCESS, and the League of Women Voters (LWV). Anyone is welcome to participate.

Michigan Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie will deliver the keynote address at the Voter Engagement Bash. ACCESS Civic Engagement Manager Shams Al-Badry and Laura Dudgeon of the LWV will also speak.

“With the November 5 national and statewide elections quickly approaching, HFC is pumping up excitement about participating in our democratic process,” said HFC Director of Student Activities Cassandra Fluker.

Voting is your voice in our democracy

The Voter Engagement Bash is a civic engagement program to help students understand the importance of voting and their voting rights. Other program highlights include voter registration, a mock polling place, voter resources, activities, giveaways, and refreshments. For many students, this is the first opportunity to vote. It is an exciting time to participate as a U.S. citizen in the voting process.

To vote in Michigan, you must be registered and at least 18 years old by Election Day. Please register as early as possible. Methods and requirements for voter registration depend on the following deadlines:

  • If there are 15+ days before an election, you may register online, by mail, or in person.
  • Within 14 days of an election and on Election Day, you may only register by visiting your local clerk’s office to register in person with proof of residency documentation.

For more information about voting in Michigan, visit Michigan.gov/Vote. The Voter Engagement Bash is free and open to the public.
