Challenging the way people look at the world is what makes art exciting
“Setting up an exhibition, especially in an academic environment, means putting up an exhibition that has visually appealing art and the art somehow makes a statement. In fact, the artwork may not be ‘pretty,’ but it challenges how the viewer thinks and potentially sees at least a bit of the world in a new way. As my graduate school mentor, Dick Hay, would tell his students, ‘I don't want to see more of things I have seen before. I want to see something I have never seen before because that challenges the way I have to look at the world. That is when art is exciting.’ This is what I strive for in putting together exhibitions for the Sisson,” explained Sisson curator Steve Glazer.
The “Visual Loudmouths” exhibition is free and open to the public. Hours for Sisson are as follows:
- 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
- 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Wednesday
