Silent Witness Exhibit supports an end to domestic violence
The Silent Witness Exhibit returns to HFC from Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26. This exhibit brings awareness to the issue of domestic violence, with an ultimate goal of bringing an end to the violence.
The exhibit will be at HFC in the following locations on the following dates:
- April 22-23: The Nursing building (East Campus)
- April 24-26: The John McDonald Student & Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus)
Honoring those lost to domestic violence
Data shows that every minute, 20 people become victims of domestic violence. The Silent Witness Exhibit is a visual representation of life-sized, red-laminated silhouettes of the women, men, and children murdered in acts of domestic violence. There will be a local resource table near the exhibit for community members to learn more about services in the area.
For more than 20 years, the Silent Witness Exhibit has been a powerful way to honor those whose lives were lost in acts of domestic violence and to begin the healing process through awareness, education, and treatment programs in hundreds of communities across the United States and worldwide.
HFC is sponsoring the Silent Witness Exhibit in April to help bring awareness to this important issue in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
