Sixth annual International Students pumpkin-carving party

HFC International Student Services hosted its sixth annual pumpkin-carving party in late October in the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).

HFC International Student advisors Sara Gonzalez Herrera and Sulian Larmond introduced 14 international students to the American tradition of carving a jack-o’-lantern during the Halloween season. They guided the students through the steps of cleaning the inside of the pumpkin, choosing the best design, and finally carving the pumpkin.

While many of the attendees were new students, three students from last year enjoyed this activity so much that they came again this year. Everyone also enjoyed fresh cider and spiced doughnuts from a local cider mill. Some students even took home the pumpkin seeds to roast them and enjoy them as a snack.

This has become a fun and proud annual tradition.
