HFC helps new students “SOAR” with rapid orientation

With the Fall 2024 semester starting August 22, HFC will offer Express Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) for new students during the weeks of August 12 and 19.

We'll meet in the Community Rooms of the Welcome Center (Building WC on the main campus).

The Express SOAR services will be offered on 10 dates. You do not need to register in advance:

• Monday, August 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, August 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Thursday, August 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Monday, August 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, August 20, from noon to 2:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Thursday, August 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A space for you as a new student

New students will check in at the Concierge Desk at the entrance of the Welcome Center. You will then receive a checklist of enrollment items to guide you toward completing the steps. New students who have applied and have been admitted to HFC can take Course Placement Tests. Afterward, you will go to the Community Rooms to complete the online orientation, meet with an Academic Advisor, and receive help registering for classes and financial aid assistance from the Enrollment Services team.

“We recognize that new students starting the enrollment process two weeks before the start of classes need service options in a flexible format. We also wanted to create a space for new students to meet with our team members outside of the regular peak enrollment hustle and bustle of returning students in the Welcome Center,” said HFC Assistant Director of Enrollment Services, Assessment, and Orientation Nikole Ford-Kondraciuk.
