On the heels of winning 15 awards at the Michigan Press Association Better Newspaper Conference, The Mirror News – HFC’s student-run newspaper – has won 29 awards at the 45th annual Michigan Community College Press Association annual conference hosted by Central Michigan University on April 6.

“I believe this is the most awards The Mirror News has ever won at the MCCPA. This reflects the amazing teamwork and collaboration of the entire newspaper staff. They have worked so well together all semester and continue to be so supportive of each other through myriad challenges; they are each other’s best cheerleaders. I couldn’t ask for a better group of students to work with,” said HFC English instructor and Mirror News faculty advisor Dr. Peter Kim.

The team's culture is fun and lighthearted, and I attribute that to Dr. Kim and his ability to let writers be themselves while maintaining professionalism.”
