Join us as HFC’s Counseling Center works with you to improve your mental wellness throughout the Fall 2024 semester with Mindfulness Mondays, Tools for Success Tuesdays, and Wellness Wednesdays.

Each Mindfulness Mondays workshop will meet in Room A-121 of the Learning Success Center (Building A on the main campus). HFC Counselor Amy Ducklow will lead the Mindfulness Mondays workshops, which will be held on the following dates from noon to 1:00 p.m.:

  • Monday, September 23: The “Circles of Control” workshop focuses on the aspects of your life that you have direct control over.
  • Monday, September 30: The “Art of Relaxation” is an ability you hone over time. Consciously relaxing is a key technique to managing stress. This event offers different at options, including mandala (relieving stress by coloring) or creating a peace collage.
  • Monday, October 7: Keeping a gratitude journal helps you experience more gratitude, positive moods, and better sleep. This workshop will give you prompts for starting a gratitude journal (such as acts of kindness, things you like about yourself, a good thing that happened, and so on).
  • Monday, October 14: Stretching can be a bottom-up approach to relaxation, which includes deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and sensory grounding exercises that activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes relaxation and emotional regulation.
  • Monday, October 28: The “Mindful Breathing” workshop allows you to have a more mindful and conscious awareness of your body and your surroundings, your breathing and capacity to relax, allowing your breath to find a natural rhythm.
  • Monday, November 4: Repeat of the “Circles of Control” workshop.
  • Monday, November 11: Repeat of the “Art of Relaxation” workshop.
  • Monday, November 18: Repeat of the stretching workshop.
  • Monday, November 25: Repeat of the gratitude journal workshop.
