Woman and a man doing chair yoga.

The MI-ACE Women’s Network at HFC is sponsoring a Chair Yoga session taught by HFC Director of Academic Services Dr. Cristina Bailey in the Community Rooms of the Welcome Center (Building WC on the main campus) on Monday, March 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Join us for a rejuvenating chair yoga session, which is suitable for all fitness levels and can be done in street clothes. Chair yoga will invigorate your body and mind with gentle movements. Some of the benefits include:

  • Improved motility and spinal health
  • Improved flexibility and muscle strength
  • Decreased stress and anxiety
  • Improved respiratory function
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Increased energy
  • Promoting overall wellbeing

“Chair yoga is for everyone. It’s a safe way to practice yoga poses, breathing techniques, and meditation. It promotes excellent benefits for health and wellbeing, supported by an increasingly growing body of research,” said Bailey, a registered clinical physiologist and certified yoga teacher.

This is one of four events MI-ACE Women’s Network at HFC is sponsoring for the rest of March in celebration of Women’s History Month. This chair yoga session is free and open to all HFC employees, regardless of gender. No change of clothes is necessary; come as you are.
