The League of Women Voters of Dearborn-Dearborn Heights will host a Voter Education Event on Saturday, February 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Hall in Christ Episcopal Church, 120 N. Military (at Cherry Hill) in Dearborn.
Everyone is invited -- all ages, genders, races, religions, party affiliations and independents -- everyone.
This event will provide information about two millage proposals that will appear on the February 27 ballot:
- The HFC millage proposal asks for renewal of the expiring millage rate by combining the current 3+1 millage into 4 mills.
- The Dearborn Public Schools millage proposal seeks a 10-year operating millage renewal.
Scheduled speakers include:
- HFC President Russ Kavalhuna
- Dearborn Executive Director of Business Services and Operations Tom Wall
- Dearborn Communications Director David Mustonen
- Dearborn Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko (tentative)
HFC and the Dearborn Public Schools are the sole remaining district in the state of Michigan that combines a P-12 district with a community college, sharing a single Board of Trustees/Education. The two entities have distinct budgets and operations, but the partnership provides a seamless connection not only for dual-enrolled high school students, but also for HFC students who live in the district and pay in-district tuition.
This event is free and open to the public. The building is fully accessible. Spread the word, and please join us!
