June Course of the Month: “Becoming an Ally”
The HFC Talent Management Team is excited to announce a special learning opportunity for the month of June (or beyond). The course, which you can take any time, is called “Becoming an Ally.”
As we also reflect on the NYC Pride 2024 Theme: "Reflect. Empower. Unite," we recognize the importance of allyship in fostering unity and inclusion. This year’s theme highlights the need for allies to demonstrate their support for the LGBTQ+ community, especially in times of increasing division and challenges.
Course overview
Practicing allyship is an important and rewarding endeavor. As an ally, you can develop new relationships with people who share the values of equity and inclusion. And you can make new personal and professional connections within your community. This course provides an overview of the tools needed to practice allyship.
Topics include:
- Defining allyship.
- How to approach allyship.
- Ways to educate yourself as an ally.
- Learning about inequity and privilege as they relate to allyship.
In this course, you will learn essential tips for practicing allyship, including:
- Understanding the impact of privilege.
- Building supportive relationships.
- Advocating for others.
- Other important considerations for fostering an inclusive environment.
