HFC has appointed Jake Pacholski as the new head coach for the Hawks baseball team. He will take the helm during the 2024-25 season.

Pacholski replaced Michael Abney, who served as head coach from 2018 until 2024. HFC marks Pacholski’s first time as head coach at the college level. Franco Succurro, Victor Roache, Mark Bloomshield, Peter Riley, and Benn Baker will serve as assistant coaches.

“It's a great honor to be the head baseball coach here at HFC,” said Pacholski. “Our programs have been built on competition, and we will double down on that. We promised every single player to give them everything we have as a coaching staff. We all want a culture where players will enjoy their time at HFC.”

HFC marks his first time as head coach at the college level

A lifelong Dearborn resident, Pacholski is a graduate of Divine Child High School, where he participated in baseball and was a team captain. He earned his associate degree in general studies from what is now Jackson College. He subsequently transferred to what is now Rochester Christian University in Rochester Hills, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business management. He played scholarship baseball at both colleges and also served as a captain on both teams.

Pacholski has been coaching baseball for nearly 10 years. He spent one year at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and three years at Wayne State University as an assistant coach. Prior to coming to HFC, he was the head coach at Plymouth High School for three years. During his time at Plymouth, where his record was 77-40, the varsity baseball team set a single-season winning record in 2022 with 30 wins.

“What has always been behind my culture is helping people be their best,” he said.

The perfect selection for HFC

Pacholski is owner and head coach of the LP Rails, a travel baseball organization.

“In the last nine years as the LP Rails skipper, this organization has produced more than 160 collegiate student-athletes and garnered a record of 227-54,” said Pacholski.

HFC Athletic Director Rochelle Taylor is looking forward to working with Pacholski.

“We’re excited to have Coach Pacholski lead our baseball program!” said Taylor. “His experience as a former player in our league resonates well with our team, and his coaching and recruiting background from his collegiate stints made him the perfect selection for HFC. He’s very well respected in the baseball community, and I’m looking forward to seeing how far our team will advance with him at the helm.”
