Two HFC basketball players named NJCAA All-Americans
Two members of the HFC Men’s Basketball team – D’Quarion Cole and D’Juan Seal – have been named to the 2022-23 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men’s Basketball All-American Teams.
All-American selections are made by the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee. These accolades are the latest in a record-breaking season for the Hawks.
Cole, a sophomore shooting guard from Pontiac High School was named First Team All-American. Seal, a sophomore guard from Pershing High School in Detroit, was named Second Team All-American.
Coach Chris Shepard, who was named the MCCAA Coach for the Year for the fourth time, is proud of his players’ accomplishments.
“Having two All-Americans on one team is special. They are both very deserving,” he said. “D’Quarion did everything for us all year. D’Juan accomplished this in a little over half a season, which speaks to his talent and the numbers he put up. “
With the addition of Cole and Seal, the HFC men’s basketball program has produced five All-Americans in the past four years:
- Leon Ayers - 2020
- Carrington McCaskill - 2021
- Mak Manciel - 2022
- D'Quarion Cole - 2023
- D'Juan Seal - 2023
"Henry Ford College has produced only 10 All-Americans in its 85-year history," said HFC Director of Athletics Rochelle Taylor. "The first two were in 1959. So I'd say 4 in 5 years is a pretty good success rate!"
