HFC’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK): Alpha Xi Mu Chapter’s Infant Drive for Freedom House Detroit ends Friday, December 8.

PTK is asking the HFC community to donate new items to benefit three expectant mothers. Having refugee status, these women – who range between 5-7 months pregnant – face many hardships. While any supplies or financial donations are greatly appreciated, below is a list Freedom House has provided, which have been helpful in the past for new mothers:

  • Clothing (for newborns, 1-3 months old; for babies, 3-6 months old; and for babies, 6-9 months old)
  • Bath essentials (hooded towels, baby oil, baby lotion, baby body wash)
  • Feeding essentials (baby bottles, baby brush, bibs, baby formula, bottle warmer, water filter)
  • Diaper essentials (boxes of diapers, baby wipes, baby powder)
  • Miscellaneous items (baby bouncer, rattle and other baby toys, swaddle blankets, baby hygiene kit)

Please note: All items must be new.

The mission of Freedom House is to support and empower refugees, asylum seekers, and others seeking humanitarian protection on their journey to safety, security, and freedom by providing comprehensive services in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

The members of PTK will donate all collected items during a visit to Freedom House following the conclusion of the infant drive. Please deliver all donations to the Office of Student Activities, Room M-105 in the John McDonald Student & Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).
