HFC golfer Devin Rocz finished second at the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII Golf Championship, advancing to the National Championships at The Golf Club at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, IN May 23-26.

This accomplishment represents the fourth HFC athletic team – golf, men’s basketball, wrestling, and roller hockey – that made a national championship appearance during the 2023-23 season, said HFC Athletic Director Rochelle Taylor.

Coach Jake Kieronski, in his third season as head coach of the Hawks, is proud of Rocz, an alumnus of Southgate Anderson High School.

“Devin has been a Hawk since I started coaching at HFC. He took a year off and came back strong with an amazing love for the game. What really sets Devin apart is his competitive spirit, which is required to succeed in this game,” said Kieronski. “Devin started Regionals with an 80. He wasn’t happy, feeling like he left too much out there. He bounced back the next day, firing a 73 to get back into contention to qualify for Nationals. The third day, he finished with a 72, solidifying his spot for Nationals and coming in second for the tournament. It has been a great pleasure to coach Devin and the other team members. I look forward going to Swan Lake Resort to see him compete.”
