Campus Pride Month events in April
HFC will host several events in April during Campus Pride Month.
The Campus Pride Events are listed below.
OUT! LGBTQ+ Visibility and Identity Exhibit
The OUT! exhibit will be Tuesday, April 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Pavilion of the Student & Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. M) on the main campus.
Coming from The Henry Ford in Dearborn, OUT! features themes, artwork, and artifacts focused on the history and lived experiences of members of the LGBTQ+ community. This educational exhibit promotes awareness and understanding.
Pride Flag Installation
Members of SAGA and other volunteers will place 200 Rainbow Flags in the quad between the Reuther Liberal Arts Building (Bldg. K), the Health Science Education Center (Bldg. G), and the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Bldg. F) on Thursday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m. The flags will fly proudly throughout the rest of April and will need to be removed by Monday, May 1.
Pins for Pride: Button-Making Activity
Pins for Pride will be held Tuesday, April 18, from noon to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Bldg. F) on the main campus.
At the Pins for Pride activity, you can design and create pronoun and pride-themed pins for yourself and your friends and family.
Sexuality and Gender Acceptance Club (SAGA) Meeting
SAGA meets every other Thursday in Rm. M-119 of the Student & Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. M) on the main campus. Its next meeting during Campus Pride Month is Thursday, April 20, from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m.
SAGA is a support network for students, particularly members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. The meetings consist of fun activities, event planning, and more. For questions and more information about SAGA, contact Troy Gibson at trgibson3@hfcc.edu.
