AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith and MCAN share inspiration at HFC

On June 9, AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith visited HFC with the Michigan College Access Network.

The eighth CEO of AmeriCorps, Smith has dedicated his career to social justice and public service in underserved communities. Prior to AmeriCorps, he served as executive director of the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and director of Youth Opportunity Programs at the Obama Foundation. In these roles, Smith led the Foundation’s efforts to reduce barriers and expand opportunity for boys and young men of color, their families, and other underserved youth. An alumnus of Marymount University in Arlington, VA, Smith resides in Springfield, VA.

Smith joined us at HFC,” said HFC Assistant Director of Enrollment Services, Assessment, and Orientation Nikole Ford-Kondraciuk. “Our coaches who serve through AmeriCorps were able to share their great work to support student success and our innovative program with our AdviseMI partners and local high schools. CEO Smith’s listening ear and support re-energized their efforts to continue supporting students to be successful.”
