HFC will host the Region VI Business Professionals of America (BPA) Conference on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. It will be held on HFC’s main campus in the Technology Building (Bldg. E) and Reuther Liberal Arts Building (Bldg. K).

More than 300 students from at least 20 high schools will participate in events that focus on business skill acumen. The students will be well-prepared. This is a professional event for them. As a bonus, it provides a great opportunity for potential students to familiarize themselves with HFC and its FutureDriven mindset.

HFC volunteers needed

HFC faculty and staff are needed to volunteer for as little as one hour or as much as the entire day, their schedules permitting. Full-time faculty should note that volunteering at this conference will count as community service hours.

Volunteer options include:

  • Checking in students
  • Providing general assistance (i.e., directions to classroom locations, etc.)
  • Judging events
  • Proctoring exams

Judged events

Most of the judged events are presentations, so HFC faculty and staff are qualified to judge. This is a fun and meaningful way to serve your community. Rubrics used for the judged events will be available prior to the conference. The topics for the judged events include the following:

  • Information Technology
  • Financial Services
  • Administrative Support
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Persuasive Presentations and Speeches
  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Marketing
  • Management

Please sign up to volunteer as soon as you can, so we can plan the event's logistics. Contact Kathy M. Edwards at 313-317-1764 or kmedwards1@hfcc.edu.
