Greg’s Anatomy: biology instructor creates 105 anatomy videos for students
HFC biology professor Dr. Gregory Karapetian has gone the extra mile (105 miles?) for his students. He recently created 105 new anatomy videos to help students and support other instructors in various anatomy classes taught at the College.
Each video is 2-5 minutes long.
This effort demonstrates Karapetian’s passion for teaching and also takes advantage of the accessibility and popularity of YouTube, giving students easy access to some of the course material they need.
“Using that platform made good sense,” said Karapetian. “No cost to students, easy to navigate… that type of accessibility was attractive.”
2.5 million views from earlier effort
This is not the first time Karapetian has utilized this technology for the benefit of students. Along with several colleagues, Karapetian created 77 videos in 2014 that have generated more than 2.5 million views.
“Several years ago, I had plans to update the original videos with more crisp, clean images and better sound and video quality. One of my projects this past year was to plan, film, and edit all new anatomy videos for my own students at HFC,” he said. “This is an exciting project, one I wanted to get at for a while. I’m happy to have it done.”
Karapetian has taught biology and anatomy courses at HFC since 2009. This semester, he is teaching:
- BIO 233: Anatomy and Physiology I
- BIO 234: Anatomy and Physiology II
“Our dedication and devotion to providing our students with the best materials at the lowest possible cost continues,” he said. “It is my hope our students find these videos a helpful resource as they navigate their academic journey.”
