HFC, University of Detroit Mercy, and Wayne State University are invited to participate in the second year of the learning community “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through Film, Video, and Podcast,” a new series supported by ReBUILDetroit (a consortium comprising UDM and Wayne State with HFC serving as its pipeline partner) on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom.

An eye-opening podcast

At the meeting, the episode “1st Generation College Students: Earning the Right to Innovate”, from the podcast STEMming in Stilettos by Dr. Toshia will be discussed.

Even if you don't have time to listen to the podcast first, feel free to join in.

“Enjoy the podcast, then join us to have some fun discussing. If you would like to create a trivia question related to the podcast, that may inspire some discussion. Listening to this student's journey is very eye-opening,” said Janice Gilliland, Dean of the HFC School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). “Feel free to attend the Zoom meet-up on Dec. 7 even if you don’t listen to the podcast – perhaps the discussion will inspire you to listen later.”

Registration is required

Gilliland and HFC Assistant Director of Performance, Development, and Engagement Tracye Davis serve as the co-chairs.

Please register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
