The HFC Arab Cultural Studies Program is a proud sponsor of the Arab American National Museum Film Festival, which begins Monday, Nov. 1, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 7. The film festival will occur both online and in-person.

The film festival showcases Arab and Arab American films for fans of Arabic-language movies and adventurous art-film lovers seeking new perspectives and outside-the-box thinking. Many of these films by both artists from the Arab world and Arab American artists are unlikely to reach traditional American commercial theaters. Genres include drama, comedy, and documentary, in both short-form and feature lengths. Every festival film is subtitled in English, making them accessible to all. Many films are making their Michigan and/or United States debut.

The Arab world has experienced rapid societal, political, and economic changes within the last 10 years, according to HFC counselor Imad Nouri. The films are carefully selected to reflect on those changes and provide new ways of storytelling expressed in artistic sophistication that meet international film standards.

Here is a complete schedule of this year’s films and a complete description of the films. If you are interested in attending, need more information about the films, and want to purchase tickets, please visit the film festival website.
