Wayne County Cares offers $500 grant opportunity to eligible workers

HFC Students, we want to make you aware of a program from our friends at Wayne County:

The Wayne County Cares Program is designed to help those individuals impacted by the most recent state shutdown. This program is for workers in the restaurant, hospitality, entertainment, and fitness industry who have been impacted by the most recent Michigan Pause orders. If selected to receive the award in the random drawing, applicants will receive a ONE time payment of $500.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must reside in the Wayne County
  • Applicant must have an annual income in 2019 of $76,265 or below, prior to the COVID-19 crisis. (This income threshold is calculated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) using data from 2019.)
  • Applicant should be a current or former employee since March 2020 at one of the industries:
    • Food Service
    • Entertainment (Movie Theater, Bowling, Water Parks, Arenas, etc.)
    • Group Fitness
    • Hospitality
  • If you worked at a restaurant or bar, winery, or brewery you must not be the owner of the establishment.

Note: Qualification means you will be placed in a randomized draw. It does not mean you will receive the grant.
