At end of 2020, HFC signed an official articulation with Baker College, which is Michigan’s largest private non-for-profit college whose main campus is in Owosso.

The articulation agreement provides HFC students with resources for a simplified and streamlined pathway to earning a bachelor’s degree at Baker. It ensures a smooth curriculum transition, minimizing loss of credits and duplicating coursework.

Baker will waive any new student application fees for eligible students admitted in connection with the HFC articulation agreement. Baker also offers specific scholarships for transfer students, including the Trustees Transfer Scholarship, with up to $9,000/year available to eligible students.

HFC President Russell A. Kavalhuna and Baker President Dr. Bart Daig signed this articulation agreement, which went into effect immediately. Also present at the virtual signing:
• Dr. Michael Nealon, HFC Vice President for Academic Affairs
• Dr. Cristina Bailey, HFC director of academic services
• Dr. David Maier, HFC computer information systems (CIS) faculty
• Dr. Jill Langen, Baker provost
• Peter Karsten, Campus President, Baker College of Auburn Hills

Articulation Agreement provides an accessible environment at Baker

“Seamless transfer agreements, such as this new opportunity at Baker College, will allow our graduates to pursue their goals by earning a quality education and valuable experience in an accessible environment,” said Kavalhuna. “We encourage HFC students to consider extending their education and career prospects through this opportunity.”

Under this arrangement, HFC and Baker agree that any student who has successfully completed coursework or programs at HFC may transfer the course credits as indicated in transfer guides toward their degree at Baker. The associate degree to bachelor’s degree pathway, under which Baker will accept a minimum of 60 transfer credits, will be available across a variety of degree programs.

Some of these degree programs include:
• Business administration
• Computer science
• Criminal justice
• Game software development
• General studies
• Health care administration
• Human services
• Information systems
• Information technology & security
• Psychology

This agreement includes 12 program pathways that identify HFC courses that can be applied to the third year of a bachelor’s degree program at Baker. These include programs in business, information technology and psychology, and can be up to an additional 30 credits beyond the associate degree.

“We’re enthusiastic about formalizing our partnership with Henry Ford College through this important articulation agreement, which is focused – first and foremost – on student success,” said Daig. “We look forward to welcoming more HFC students to our Baker campuses, and are ready to help them achieve all of their academic goals and dreams.”
