Donate to the Hawks’ Nest bottle and can refund drive

Release Date
Three Hawks' Nest volunteers.

The Hawks’ Nest – HFC’s student pantry – is holding a bottle and can refund drive as a fundraiser to help restock its shelves, which will help needy students when we return to campus.

All bottle and can returns were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people have empties overflowing in their garage or home. Thankfully, the bottle return sites are scheduled to reopen, effective Monday, June 15. Please confirm with the location you intend to use to see if they’re taking bottles and cans, as some restrictions many apply.

What you can do to help

By holding this drive, the Hawks’ Nest staff is not able to physically collect the bottles and cans. We do not have the space to store the empty bottles and cans, nor the staff capacity to return them.

So, to participate, the Hawks’ Nest is asking you to properly return your bottles and cans to the location of your choice, collect the refund, and then donate that amount to the Hawks' Nest.

How to donate your refunds

Mail your refund/donation to the Student Activities Office (SAO) – either through inter-office mail once campus reopens or through the U.S. postal service to the address below:

ATTN: Mandy Earl
Office of Student Activities, M-105
Henry Ford College
5101 Evergreen Rd.
Dearborn, MI 48128

Please be sure to include your name and address, so the SAO staff will know who is making the donation.

You can also donate online through the HFC Foundation Office. Under “Give to HFC,” enter your donation amount and select “Other” (type in “Hawks’ Nest”).

Any donation you can make to the Hawks’ Nest is greatly appreciated and will go a long way toward alleviating food insecurity among HFC Students. For questions or more information about this fundraiser, please contact Mandy Earl at mlearl1@hfcc.edu.
