5 HFC wrestlers qualify for NJCAA Wrestling Championships

HFC wrestlers competed at the North Central District (NCD) National Qualifying Tournament at Muskegon Community College Feb. 17.

Five grapplers from HFC are now heading to the National Junior College Athletic Association Wrestling Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa, March 1-2:
• Hunter Lajiness, 125-pound weight class
• Santos Alvarez, 133-pound weight class
• Mike Bergmooser, 165-pound weight class
• Dominic Mancina, 174-pound weight class
• Jacob Giorgi, 285-pound weight class

“I’m very proud of our wrestlers and the efforts of their coach, Grant MacKenzie, who’s really taken HFC’s wrestling program to new heights,” said HFC Athletic Director Rochelle Taylor.
