Big Desk Calendar needs your events for 2019

Good news: The 2019 HFC Big Desk Calendar is getting leaner and more focused.

The longstanding Henry Ford College faculty/staff desk calendar that our Graphics Center has been producing, by hand, for years, is changing for 2019-2020 (March 2019 through Feb. 2020).

The old way of producing the calendar was outdated. The calendar's large size -- 22.5 x 17.25 -- meant we had to use our 1970s-vintage printing press, which requires custom plates and multiple printing passes. Then, each calendar had to be hand-collated, stacked, glued, and trimmed before delivery to you.

We will continue producing a large desk calendar for you, but we're going to use more modern digital equipment, which means the calendar will be reduced to 19x13.

We would like our new desk calendar to be as comprehensive as possible, to include pre-planned dates for all major events and activities of the College that affect faculty and staff.

These include such items as:

  • Academic dates
  • Athletics dates
  • Public / community events dates
  • Major enrollment-related dates
  • Student Affairs dates
  • Human Resources dates
  • Major labor union dates

To get your dates included:

  1. Please send any and all major event dates to communications@hfcc.edu if you would like them included on the HFC desk calendar by December 14, 2018. Include all dates from March 2019 through February 2020. (Caveat: We'll do our best to include all events you send us. It's possible we might have to eliminate some events on specific days, if those days have too many events listed).

  2. Let us know how many of the printed desk calendars your office might want. Your estimate doesn't have to be exact; we're looking for a ballpark. This will help us plan for paper and printing.
