HFC Basketball Players Earn Athletic Honors

Diangelo Carlton (left) and Keith Robinson are two of the HFC student-athletes who earned athletic honors this past season.

Three HFC basketball players recently earned recognition from the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA).

The three basketball players include Sophomore Ariel Walker, Freshman Diangelo Carlton and Freshman Keith Robinson. HFC nominated the three student-athletes and each head coach in the MCCAA voted for them to receive these honors.

Walker, of Oak Park, received All-Region, All-MCCAA and First-Team All-Conference honors. This season, the 6 foot forward scored a total of 366 points and led the Lady Hawks with 251 rebounds. She also had 42 blocks and 35 steals.

Carlton, of Detroit, secured Second-Team All-Conference honors and was named to the All-Freshman team. Carlton is a 6 foot 4 forward and an alumnus of Detroit-based Allen Academy. He scored a total of 419 points this season and had 290 rebounds – the 10th highest in the nation. Additionally, he is credited with 75 assists and 68 steals during the season.

Robinson, of Ferndale, received Honorable Mention. The 6 foot 7 center, who is an alumnus of Ferndale Preparatory High School, scored a total of 182 points, 134 rebounds and 35 blocks this season.

“Our student-athletes worked extremely hard during the season. It is indeed an honor that they were recognized as top athletes within the state and the region,” said HFC Athletic Director Rochelle Taylor.
