HFCC Presents Autumn Jazz Concert

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the Henry Ford Community College Autumn Jazz Concert. The Fine Arts and Fitness Division at HFCC will present the concert on Friday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Adray Auditorium of the Mackenzie Fine Arts Center on HFCC’s main campus, located at 5101 Evergreen Rd. in Dearborn.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. For advance ticket reservations, please call 313-317-6566 or email Rick Goward at rgoward@hfcc.edu. Advance ticket reservations are recommended. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door.

The concert will feature performances by the Henry Ford Big Band, Blue Fusion (vocal jazz), Studio 110 (Big Band jazz) and Midnight Blue (vocal jazz) and will include performances of favorite big band and vocal jazz tunes of the past as well as holiday songs, including 'The Christmas Song,' 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,' and 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town.'

'HFCC’s Autumn Jazz Concert is a great concert for both younger and older music fans,' said Rick Goward, director of HFCC’s Big Band.

The HFCC Big Band plays frequently throughout the Dearborn area and is known for their well-rounded Big Band repertoire. Directed by HFCC music instructor Randall Knight, the Studio 110 Jazz Orchestra performs a wide selection of jazz favorites at many Detroit-area events. Its members range from recent high school graduates to retirees. Midnight Blue, directed by Kevin Dewey, HFCC’s vocal music director, performs vocal jazz and has appeared locally and nationally.
