HFCC Ceramics Club featured at Farmers Market Aug. 14

Henry Ford Community College (HFCC), as sponsor of the Dearborn Farmers and Artisans Market, presented by the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, will offer special activities and information each Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the market, located adjacent to the Bryant Branch Library on Michigan Avenue. The market will be open each Friday through Oct. 30.

On Friday, Aug. 14, HFCC art instructor Steve Glazer and students from the HFCC Ceramics Club will demonstrate pottery-making techniques. Information about HFCC’s various art programs, including painting, drawing, ceramics, graphic design, interior design, photography and more will be available.

The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is located adjacent to the Bryant Branch Library on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

HFCC will offer special activities and information each Friday at the market through Oct. 30. Some of the future activities include:

On Friday, Aug. 21, the Alumni Committee of the HFCC Foundation will be passing out an alumni survey, as well as staffing a bean bag toss for both children and adults for prizes.

On Friday, Aug. 28, representatives from the HFCC Job Placement Office will provide information about services for HFCC students and graduates.

On Friday, Sept. 4, HFCC’s Culinary Arts program will be featured.

Each Friday, representatives from HFCC’s Office of Enrollment Development will be available at the market to provide information about HFCC’s programs and services, especially cutting-edge programs focused on the future, such as biotechnology, alternative energy and health careers to prepare students for Michigan’s new economy. Information about HFCC programs for laid-off workers who qualify for the No Worker Left Behind state initiative also will be available.

Future HFCC activities on Fridays will include Criminal Justice program, Wellness program, Firefighter/Paramedic program, ice carving demonstrations by the HFCC Ice Carving Club, blood pressure checks by the HFCC Nursing Division and events from the Office of Student Activities.
