Henry Ford College was the first step in my professional career. The Interior Design Program provided me with traditional and modern tools and skills used by the industry in preparation me for my future. While attending HFC, I was able to employ my creativity by entering the National Kitchen and Bath Association Student Design Competition where I was awarded second place for my Coca-Cola Kitchen design. My strong design skills also prepared me for an internship at NewWay Kitchen and Bath. HFC's Interior Design Program prepared me for a smooth transition to College for Creative Studies where I received a significant scholarship resulting in a BFA in Interior Design in May 2015. I am currently employed by JGA Design and Architecture as a retail designer where I develop prototypes and flagship stores for numerous national and international brands.

HFC's Interior Design Program is incredible. Starting this program, I had no idea how much detail and skill are actually required to complete one project. This program challenged some of my weaknesses and helped me turn them into strengths (like orally presenting a project to an instructor or to a client). I am very grateful for the excellent instructors/mentors for pushing me in every project and developing the tools necessary to further my career path in interior design.

The Interior Design program at Henry Ford College laid the groundwork for a successful transition into a four-year program through their hands-on approach to education and a dedication to pushing each student to their greatest potential. Courses within the program have strong objectives and each course is rigorous in that they are labor intensive with strict deadlines. This curriculum structure and the instructors’ extensive knowledge base and quest for excellence prepared me in a way that allowed me to feel well prepared and even ahead of the curve when I began my four-year degree at Eastern Michigan University. Overall, the program is something truly special, offering a highly thorough design education over the course of two-years provided me with a greatly rewarding experience and a foundation that has allowed my work to be at the level it is today.
