The HFC Music department’s Metropolitan Symphony Band presents its spring concert, “Whales, Raptors, and Ray” on Wednesday, May 7, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Adray Auditorium (Room F-100) in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F on the main campus).

HFC alumnus Ray Vipond will be the featured soloist. HFC Director of Music Anthony Lai will direct this concert. The Metropolitan Symphony Band includes HFC music students, advanced placement high school students, neighboring university students, and members of the community.

“Ray Vipond’s return to HFC as a section leader and now featured soloist has been invaluable to the ensemble,” said Lai, who added tongue-in-cheek: “We’re also playing a piece called ‘The Raptor Rides the Whale,’ an interesting piece that features some unusual use of percussion.”

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. For questions or more information, contact Lai at ajlai@hfcc.edu.

Public events at HFC are open to all. Everyone is welcome.
