Molly Mildenberger joins Student Activities

Release Date
Headshot of Molly Mildenberger.

HFC Student Activities Administrative Assistant Molly Mildenberger has always had a passion for education and learning.

“My first love is tourism. While researching sustainable tourism, I found that working in higher education was an easier field to break into. Working in higher education allows me to make a difference in the lives of students, while also giving me the opportunity to keep learning every day.”

Mildenberger began her new position at HFC in April.

“Molly has already proven herself as a go-getter,” said Student Activities Associate Kayla Collins. “She demonstrates initiative, and her vast skillset and energetic attitude are valuable assets to Student Activities. I'm excited to see her grow in this position, and I feel lucky to have her as a teammate.”

Hospitality and culinary are two additional connections

The youngest of two, Mildenberger was born in Denver, CO. She lives in Trenton with her cat, Li’l T.

Mildenberger graduated from Horizon High School in Thornton, CO. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she majored in hospitality leadership with a concentration in tourism and recreation management, and minored in Spanish and history. Through the National Career Development Association, she is a Certified Career Services Provider.

Mildenberger moved from her native Colorado to start her job at HFC. She reports to Student Activities Director Dr. Cassandra Fluker. Previously, Mildenberger worked at Metro State for two years. At her alma mater, she was a teaching assistant and managed campus tours. She also worked at Visit Aurora as a sales coordinator for two years.

“I love teaching and I love college, so I decided that's where I want and need to be,” she said. “I came to HFC for the opportunity to start my career in higher education, but I will stay because of the culture. Student Activities and the student organizations on campus have hosted some of the most creative and fun events I have ever attended. Students are engaged in their clubs and truly embody the FutureDriven ethic. Plus, I work in the Student Center (Building M on the main campus), which hosts the Culinary Arts department and feels like a home away from home, as the culinary department has always been an integral part of my high school and college career.”

Opportunities for creativity

Her duties include assisting students and club advisors complete club forms that allow them to host events. She is also responsible for staffing the front desk and assisting students to find the necessary resources on campus, as well as helping Fluker and Collins find ways to innovate and improve the Office of Student Activities.

Mildenberger is adapting seamlessly to the College culture.

“I love talking to the students on campus,” she said. “Each student has a unique story, and I love hearing about them. I also love how inclusive this campus is. I get to learn new facts every day. I really love working in the Student Center because I love the food. The Skylight Café staff are so kind and funny, not to mention they always have soft, chewy cookies. The turtle ones are my favorite!”

Mildenberger continued: “The best part of my job is how creative it encourages me to be! I really enjoy helping students find solutions to their questions, while also coming up with new ideas for events or more efficient ways to work. This job allows me to combine my love of research with my love of hospitality, and makes me excited to come to work each day!”

While she’s not sure which career path she will take, Mildenberger knows that she wants to remain in higher education, whether it’s supporting student success through academic advising, student life, or becoming a professor.

“I would like to pursue my doctorate and keep learning,” she said.

Fluker is already impressed by Mildenberger’s performance.

“Molly has already suggested a few amazing ideas to enhance our services to students,” she said. “She is very supportive and helpful. I look forward to working more closely with Molly as we move into the Fall 2025 semester. I believe she will enjoy her experience at HFC, and her contributions will complement our vibrant student life.”
